Car export paperwork from Enschede: every price and what it includes

• Moving abroad after your studies or job, driving yourself: usually the complete export package, with the export in your own name. It combines the export document, 14 days of third-party liability cover with a Green Card and white export plates.
• Selling to a buyer from Gronau or further away who drives home: the buyer exports the car in their own name and needs the same package. You receive proof that the car is no longer registered to you.
• Car leaving on a trailer or transporter: a carried vehicle usually needs no driving insurance, so the export document alone is often enough.

For the export document, we deregister the vehicle for export with the RDW, the Dutch vehicle authority. The fee covers that processing plus two papers. The person in whose name the export is arranged receives the export certificate (registration certificate part II) and the registration card with a corner cut off. The seller receives the indemnification certificate (vrijwaringsbewijs), proof that the registration has ended.

• Insurance extension: if registration abroad takes longer, you can extend the Green Card and export insurance by 14 days at a time, subject to the insurer's approval. The export registration itself is not extended.
• EX-A customs document: for a destination outside the EU, an export declaration with Dutch Customs comes on top of the RDW export. See the EX-A export declaration.

• One-day cover, APK and breakdown help: guide prices for a permitted one-day trip, APK service or assistance by arrangement, and breakdown assistance on selected routes.

Are you living in Germany or further away by now, or is your buyer across the border? The preparation can happen online, but the yellow Dutch plates must physically reach us by post or courier before we start. We return documents and plates insured and with tracking, including abroad, which is why postal prices are higher than at the desk. Within the EU, DHL Express is an option. You can also prepare everything online and only call in to swap the plates.

A caravan or trailer also needs export insurance when it is exported. A trailer up to 750 kg has no registration number of its own in the Netherlands, so we insure it on its chassis number and its white export plate shows the registration of the towing vehicle. A caravan or trailer over 750 kg has its own registration and gets one white plate at the rear.

Because weight, route and documents vary, the caravan package and custom trailer work are guide prices, and we always assess your situation first. Motorhomes, vans and trucks over 2,500 kg, vehicles with foreign documents and COC assistance are priced on request.

Desk prices apply Monday to Saturday between 10:00 and 16:30. On Sundays you can come by appointment at a higher rate: call or WhatsApp first, so you know the final price before you drive to Hengelo. Outside office hours, appointments are possible around the clock and a surcharge may apply.
